In a nutshell, my juice cleanse went better and was easier than I expected. When I researched juicing, most of the cleanses were 3 days. My goal was 5 days and I ended up strictly drinking freshly pressed juice, water with lemon and herbal tea for 4 days. I learned a lot about myself and broke some habits.
My four day lowdown:
Before the fast:
I cut out meats, fried food and sweets a couple days before.
9am Hot water with lemon, 10am-7pm I drank 6 oz of fresh juice every three hours. In between, I drank plenty of water and herbal tea. Surprisingly, I never felt hungry but I did feel unsatisfied and had cravings. What I loved about drinking just liquids is that I never had crashes or highs~ I always felt even. No carb or sugar crashes! I love having 1-3 cups of coffee every morning and really enjoy the smell, but for some reason I never smelled it and still don’t now! My intention was to fast for a full 5 days, but I found since I work out daily that I was getting hungry for more at the end of day 3. That evening I did have my juice and 1/4 of organic sweet potato with olive oil. The evening of day 4 I ate a sweet potato and homemade guacamole with tortilla chips (which I craved!). I like the corn one. I also make slow cooked brown rice and had a couple of bites.
Day 5 I drank fresh juice in the morning and ate raw veggies and fruits for snacks and a salad for lunch. For dinner my husband make homemade pizza and I had mine with cheese and fresh sliced tomatoes. Day 6 ate simply but attending a party and enjoyed two homemade chicken nuggets and my wild rice salad and other salads.
After the fast:
Never felt better! My stomach aces are gone. I’m off caffeine, excedrin, sugar, mostly dairy and gluten. I honestly am not smelling coffee any longer or even crave it. I’ve replaced most of my carbohydrate items with rice or gluten free foods. Don’t get me wrong- if there’s something fabulous to eat I will have a small portion. I’m really craving my juice, so a couple days a week I have one!
What I juiced:
I’m a throw it all in gal! Must be all Organic & washed well before you place into your juicer and DRINK IMMEDIATELY. When you store any left over juice for the day, place in a thermos or jar with very little air on top in a brown paper bag. Light is not our friend with juice- diminishes the nutrients.
Morning 6oz- whole pear, apple, cucumber, 2 sticks celery, 2 carrots, inch of ginger, half a lime or lemon and the best, spearmint or peppermint!
1:00, 4:00 & 7:00, 6oz.- whole apple, cucumber, 4 sticks celery, 4 carrots, inch or two of ginger, lime or lemon, chunk of fennel ball, couple pieces of garlic, chunk of sweet potato, banana, orange, red pepper, shallot, baby kale, spinach, parsley and more!!
I don’t weigh myself but I did notice my clothes feeling looser and lost my lower belly tube. Overall, this was the perfect thing to do to feel better, look better and just in time for summer!
