Salonista Style not to be missed

I joined the “Salonista Style” team a few weeks ago and was able to wear this AMAZINGLY flattering dress for the studio opening.  What I love about it that it’s white, classy and sexy.  The zippers in gold add interest in all the right places, enhancing the cut of the dress.

Evening Shorts

I’m surprised at how much I am loving shorts in the evening.  I find they can be so much fun and then if it gets cooler in the evening, add a shirt on top.  The best way for my body type is to keep the shorts on the short side and wear a tank top and layer over~my body type broader shoulders, smaller chested, a bum, long legs and more on the slender side but I’ve had two children, so I do have extra to hide in the lower belly.

You can also pair with a jacket as I did in the second photo.  The matching print top is a bit too much for my liking, but if it’s that fabulous, then go with it.  Mix up your outfit with prints, textures, jewelry and color.  Also make sure your legs are perfectly shaved, lotion applied and I even put a little oil on mine to add sheen.

Gala Style

Bright Lights Big City Gala at the Ritz-Carlton on Boston to raise money for Jaden’s Ladder.  This foundation is very special as they aid women and children move on after being in a domestic abuse life cycle.  I was honored to attend this event and with such a classy location, you can wear that sequence dress, big bold sparkly necklace, all under a gold coat!

Dress by Tory Burch, necklace from Fashioneta, coat by Burberry, and glasses by Tom Ford.  Went with dark blue nails, gold and black earrings, big curly hair and black shiny shoes.  What a fun way to support a well deserved cause.

Stud I’m lusting after you

There’s something about these crazy metal studs and spikes that are getting me wild about fashion.  I know they’ve been out for awhile but at first I thought, ‘i wasn’t that kind of girl’.  Well, turns out I am and I can’t wait to start studding it up.  If you aren’t with me on this trend, then wait till you see these lovelies.  Studs can be beautifully mixed with soft pastels, florals or whites, or you can go for the biker look, but not head to toe…mix it up!

Such Style

I am always impressed with people who can dress well, and I even get a little jealous when they have nailed down their own classic style.  Working an out fit to get all the attention it needs takes a lot of thought, whether this is intentional or not.  There are a lot of elements that line up perfectly when an outfit is stunning, like knowing what you want to wear, how to wear it and then, knowing the right place to wear it is the tricky part, but when those three magically happen~ that’s what I call a “stunner”.  There usually is one person at every event I attend that I find to shine like a star.  They just have their style down and the perfect place to go wearing it.  You be the judge, but this gal, Isis is a “stunner” to me!  So jealous of her effortless style.  Here are a few of my favorite Isis looks!  Notice how well she mixes inexpensive and affordable items to create her signature style!

Fall Wardrobe Essentials

This fall it’s easy to add these staple items to your current wardrobe.  I am loving the textures and color options.  Bottom line, have fun with your clothes, it will show and you’ll look fabulous.

Toss & Go Sweater

Grab that big sweater and put it on over your outfit, like you would your coat.  When you get to where your going, feel free to take it off- or not!  If you do a larger sweater, then proportion is key, as you won’t want to look like your clothes are eating you up.  Think skinny jeans, leggings or skirt and loose fitting shirt or a button up shirt.
Free People 'Pattern Party' Cardigan
Jacket that Pops
What I love about this trend is that it doesn’t matter what kind of jacket you wear, just wear one that pops with color or texture!  You can have a lot of fun with this one as a great jackets pairs well with solid clothing or jeans.  Make the jacket the focus of this outfit.
Dark Redish Accessory & Lips
Sam Edelman Handbags Sadie Satchel
Kat Von D - Star Kissed Lipstick Set
If you think you don’t look great with dark lips, then try a lip gloss instead of a lipstick.  The trick with dark lips is to use a lip liner so that the color doesn’t bleed off your lips.  I use a lighter lip liner color than my lip color.
Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC
Printed Pant
Free People Ikat Print Skinny Jeans
If you are young, then go for any print you like, but if you are 35 and older, I suggest going with a darker print or neutral lace print.  Anything goes with this look, I like to pair printed pants with button downs, solid shirts with large jewelry, ballerina flats, booties, and waist length sweaters.

Abstract floral pencil skirt
Floral is romantic but can also we graphic.  You decide how to work floral.
Daniel Rainn Floral Blouse
Shine Baby Shine

Rachel Zoe Tinsley Sequin Dolman Dress

The most fun place to shine is in the evening.  If you aren’t one to shine with an entire dress then do it with a purse, heels and with your jewelry.

Hive & Honey Pyramid Fringe Earring
  • BB Dakota Jensine Dress
It’s all about the Collar
Betsey Johnson Film Noir Glitter Lips Crystal Collar
Chandi and Lia Beaded Peterpan Collar Blouse
Very cute and I would love to see this with a skirt and knee high socks.  Do not do a pleated skirt as it is too school girl.

Sabine Fringe Vegan Leather Skirt
  • There are so many amazing looks this fall, so go for it and wear it with confidence.  You will look amazing if you love how you look!

Fall color trends

If you are like me, then you too wear the same colors over and over and maybe add a new color some times.  For years I had an aversion to wearing the color peach or tangerine.  Well, that all changed this Spring when tangerine was the ‘it’ color.

My mom was visiting from Alaska and we went shopping, as we enjoy doing, and before I could put my peach colored skirt into the cart (Target) my mom reminded me that I didn’t like that color.  Yes, you are right, but it’s the color of the season and…. well it looks good on me.  Who knew since I didn’t wear it for the past forty years!

Now, my closet looks like a bomb went off filled with colors I never thought I would wear.  I have lime green jeans, turquoise canvas shoes, neon pink accessories, grey knee high boots and it goes on an on.

If you are rejecting colors because you are stuck wearing the same blacks, navies, and white, then it is time to give the seasons ‘it’ color a try.  You don’t have to go head to toe, but start by adding one new piece in a different color to spice up your wardrobe.

This Fall’s hottest colors

Burgundy or Grape

Grab a burgundy jacket, cardigan or solid scarf to your current Fall clothing to fit in this great color.

Midnight Blue

Wear midnight blue just the same as you would navy blue.

Add mustard with cords, a sweater, or leather handbag.

You never know if a color will work out for you, unless you try it.  To fit in this fall with the color trends, go out and pick up one item from each of the ‘hot’ colors.  I bet you’ll find that you actually look good in one of these Fall colors.

Miss Me jeans are, let me just say are ‘awesomely delicious’!  Designer jeans that won’t let you down, weather you are looking for something to wear everyday, for date night, or to strut your stuff, Miss Me has a jean for all booty’s and the price is right.

Miss Me’s have great bling designs on the pocket, making them the perfect going out on the town jeans.  Girls just gotta have fun!

“Wide Pick Stitch Skinny”, Style # JS5014S32, $99

The stitching details on these is what make them a flattering fit for most body types.

Any age or larger body frames can wear these jeans, the white stitching contrasts with the jeans in all the right places.

These are a skinny, but not too, making them perfect in between a jegging and bootcut.  This fall they will look hot in your boots!  I would love to hang out or go out in these jeans.

“Bradbury Straight”,  style JPS5128SK-3, $99

Darker in color, plain flap pocket and no bling makes for a casual everyday jean.

Even though they are simple, they still have the signature stitched M on the front pocket, flap on the back, and heavy silver buttons.

Rolled up or kept long, these are adorable jeans to play in.  There is still, of course signature Miss Me attention to details on these casual jeans.

What all three of these jeans have in common is the quality denim, attention to details and affordable prices for designer jeans.  Anybody would be able to find a pair of Miss Me jeans for any occasion!

This Spring everyone needs a neon piece, big or little, neon is where it’s at.  I’ve been lusting after this yellow-green neon color for awhile until now.  This is the neon piece I want to wear as the cut is classic and the length isn’t too short or too long but perfect.  Not only does this color popping dress fit my fancy, I can actually see a lot of women wearing it.  To prove my point, I put two looks together that play with the spring trends of using ‘peach’

Hello Style

There are so many styles to add to your wardrobe this Spring…. where to start?  My suggestion, pick a couple new trends that you are drawn to and add them to your current clothing.

Spring Trends Breakdown:  Neons, florals, mix and match patterns, poplum, pencil skirt, wedge shoes, metallics, chunky colorful necklaces, mint and coral clothing, and pink lips.

If you just don’t know where to start, I suggest go with one new Neon item such as a belt and add it to your jeans, or around that dress or shirt.  You can do the same trick with Metallic shoes or belt.  Also, anyone call pull off wedge shoes.  There are no rules to these shoes, they can go with just about anything!

Stay away from trying mix and match patterns as it is a lot harder unless you go to the store and buy the entire outfit from the spring collection matchy match section.  Boring, but if you just have to do it, beware you may end up looking like you didn’t have your glasses on that morning.

If you are skinny or curvy and like to have your shirts tucked in, then go for that pencil skirt otherwise, run.  It’s all about elongating your lower half and keeping things up top simple, with a crisp button up shirt or with a tucked in T and a jean jacket that falls at the waits.  Keep the proportions up top either tucked in or short, otherwise this look can go wrong quickly!

My faithful spring go to items are, a trench coat, floral scarf, skinny belt and ballerina flats.  To stay on top of the trends, I added my mother-in-laws two tone blue chuncky plastic beaded necklace, a neon T, and wedge shoes.  I’m not a fan of mint clothing but I will paint my nails this springy green color.

Don’t forget to lighten your makeup colors.  Leave the smoky eyes out for awhile and go with pastels…eyeshadow, cheeks and lips!

Have fun with these spring trends and be quick, because just when you finally figure it out, it will be summer and we’ll have new trends to follow!
