Fall is when we pile on the layers. When shopping for Fall clothing, take into account your Basics and the Trends. Basics are those staples that you already own: jeans, leggings, sweaters, scarves, button downs, boots and coats. Trends are items that make your basics more specific: what kind of cuts, and popular colors & fabrics found on the runway. Some items are timeless and will never change, the classics: black leggings, jean shirts, trench coats, white button downs, ballerina flats and boots. Rule of thumb, stick with the basics, always have the classics and add a couple trendy items. Most trends come around sooner or later, so if you buy an expensive trendy item, hold on to it!

Spring has arrived and I love the lighter layers paired with open toed shoes and light colors. It’s all so refreshing, careless and cool. Stripes never looked so good with this seasons hottest shoe, a sporty sneaker. Matchy matchy is out- add a shoe with color for that added interest. Dig out those shorts as they go with everything from dressy to tomboy casual. The key is the balance of the outfit. If you have baggy shorts then wear a tighter tank with a loose white blouse button up and eye catching sandals. We all know spring temps are unpredictable so go with lighter layers that you can wrap around your waist or shoulders. Don’t forget to lighten your make up and hair can be more casual and fun!
If you’re like me then your addicted to your summer fav’s, but as the weather gets cooler you can still wear some items. Just edit your looks by adding and layering clothing to your summer outfits.
Shorts~ keep wearing them. Instead of a tank, wear a T and add a sweater or blazer.
Sundresses~ ditch the sandals and add boots and layer with a blouse, jacket or sweater.
Crop tops- For those of us who wouldn’t dare try this trend, now it’s our time! As we can layer and cover up but still make that statement!
Skirts- stockings and socks with boots or pumps!
Denim~ if you love wearing your jeans with tanks and sandals or flip flops, just switch out the shoes for loafers or ankle boots and layer up your tops.
White T-shirt~ keep wearing them! There’s nothing more effortless than a white T!
I joined the “Salonista Style” team a few weeks ago and was able to wear this AMAZINGLY flattering dress for the studio opening. What I love about it that it’s white, classy and sexy. The zippers in gold add interest in all the right places, enhancing the cut of the dress.
The Beauty comes in three colors- black, red and white, S/M/L and is $60. To see more fabulous dresses and more from the Salonista Style shop go to http://instagram.com/salonistastyle.
I do love attending charity events and recently attended the annual Wentworth by the Sea Crossroads gala. I don’t like keeping my look the same and enjoy experimenting with new hair and make up styles. My beaded dress felt appropriate for a Spring event by the water. It was on the shorter side, white and the beads are stitched in a slight chevron style. The shoes stood out and I wanted them to have that bootie feel. When I think of spring make up on my olive complexion I think of bright pink. My toes and fingers along with my lips were covered in a deep pink color. I layered on two long necklaces to give a flapper feel. My hair dresser felt that I needed some pretty bling in my hair, so we stuck with a silvery sparkly flower.
